Small City Workshops

Each summer, the League hosts Small City Workshops across the state. The topics and information presented at these workshops are geared toward the specific needs of Iowa’s small cities, although anyone is welcome to attend.

Intersections: Where City and Library Meet

The 2024 Small City Workshops will focus on the interplay of library boards and other city officials, highlighting best practices for municipal governments and libraries to meet in the middle on policies, procedures and more. Discussion will specifically address facilities, budgets and finance, and personnel. Attendees will also be able to ask questions throughout each session.

The workshops will be presented by State Library of Iowa staff, including Northwest District Consultant, Bonnie McKewon and Continuing Education Consultant, Samantha Bouwers. The training will be beneficial to elected officials, library board members and city staff.
